Arkipelago Books has been a pillar to the community for 20 years and exists as the only distributor of speciality books outside of the Philippines. Additionally, the store's collection of contemporary and historical Filipino American titles makes Arkipelago Books a leader in book distribution to libraries, educational institutions, as well as to the local and traveler alike interested in Filipino Literature, Culture, Social Sciences, Art, Poetry, History, and more.
Located in the Bayanihan Building in the South of Market (SOMA), Arkipelago Books is a cornerstone to the Filipino businesses, advocate organizations, art spaces and families in the neighborhood. Also, community members from all walks of life -- including academics, artists, activists, students of all ages, in all parts of the country know, love and count on Marie and ArkipelagoBooks to provide current, quality products and services. Just this past Fall, this same community rallied and won their bid for SOMA PILIPINAS, San Francisco's newest Historical District, marking the contributions of Filipinos to the neighborhood and to the city.
